Considering the tight job market everywhere, whether in a city or a ski town, would you consider taking a seasonal job to get you started in a mountain town or do you feel that would be too risky and that you will only go if you get a job in your career field?
Many people start this way when they move to the mountains even in a good economy. It gives people a chance to get more involved in the community, priorities and perspectives often change and it can lead you into to a full-time job.
If this is something you could afford to do, have you even considered it? If not why? Not possible or fear?
The lodges in National Parks (Yellowstone, Tetons...) always hire seasonal help. The pay isn't good, but they provide lodging and meals and you get to live in a national park and explore in your off time. Not exactly "moving to the mountains", but you can experience the area for a few months.
