For those of you that regularly drive into the mountains in the winter, do all wheel drive vehicles really make that much of a difference?  It seems most of the cars you see in accidents are SUVs - I feel they think their cars handle the winter roads better and it gives them too much confidence.  I rarely see Subarus in trouble on the roads.  Can anyone speak to their all wheel drive handling?Winter driving definitely makes me nervous and actually can keep me from going to the mountains from…See More

I live just outside Boulder, CO and love being outside. To me, a job is just a way to support my recreational activities.
When did you first move to the mountains and why?
I moved to Boulder in 1999. In college I did a road trip out West with some friends. I decided that was where I wanted to live. After I graduated a few years later I was here...
Where did you move from? What do you miss the most?
I moved from South Carolina. I miss the diversity in plants and wildlife. Also miss the greenery.
Your favorite mountain town?
Steamboat Springs
Favorite mountain activities?
Hiking, camping
What is the best mountain job you've had? the worst?
Best was teaching environmental education. Worse was being stuck in a research lab with no windows!!
When not in the mountains, I like to...
explore other areas. I love nature - doesn't have to be the mountains - they are just my favorite. I love the beach as well.
