Ski town perspective, 10 thoughts that come to mind

The more I read about the different perspectives of how job seekers, recruiters and employers feel about the current state of the economy and how it is affecting their lives, the more I started thinking about how choosing an alternative lifestyle, in this case, a resort lifestyle, can shift your perspective away from what many consider the norm. Money, career, lifestyle, even fashion, may start to take on a new meaning after settling into the ski resort lifestyle.

I try to follow a good amount of local mountain newspapers and blogs and often find similar outlooks from ski town locals across the globe. They love where they live, and tend to compromise things such as the higher paying job and a larger home if it means they will be able to stay put. I read a comment recently from a Park City local regarding how his spending habits haven't really changed (yet) in this tough economic time.

"As a very lucky resident and employee of Park City the recession hasn't hit my family particularly hard.....yet. Maybe it's because we don't have much disposable income and have been living within our means for so long that going without the vacation or lots of extras doesn't feel too different."

This is not an uncommon sentiment. Disposable income? Many are content with supporting themselves and their families and living the mountain lifestyle.
